Description
Gewurztraminer Les Princes Abbés is a French white semi-dry wine produced from 100% Gewurtztraminer variety grown in the Alsace region, in Bollenberg and Bux, in Grand Cru vineyards. The Les Princes Abbes range is the Schlumberger family’s tribute to the Prince Abbots of the local abbey in Murbach who owned vineyards in the area until the French Revolution and were the first to sell Guebviller wines abroad. With a unique estate of more than 330 hectares in Gebwiler, the Domaines Schlumberger winery is the largest producer of Grand Crus wines in Alsace. Due to the drought and the great steepness on which the vineyards are located, the yields are about 50% of the average for the Alsace region, but the grapes obtained are of very high quality and have an exceptional concentration of taste. After manual harvesting, the grapes are transported to the winery, where they are sorted and subjected to slow pneumatic pressing. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks for one to four months. Finally, the wine ages in stainless steel, on the lees, for six to eight months.
