Description
Disaronno Originale is a liqueur with a characteristic almond flavor made in Italy. Its manufacturer, Disaronno, maintains its original “secret formula” unchanged since 1525. The product was called “Amaretto di Saronno” (Amaretto from Saronno) before adopting the name “Disaronno Originale” for marketing and legal reasons.
It is produced in Saronne and sold worldwide. According to the company, the amber-colored drink is an infusion of apricot kernel oil with absolute alcohol, brown sugar and the pure essence of seventeen selected herbs and fruits.
They buy 300 tons of bitter almonds (apricot kernels) a year for Disaronno. Disaronno can be served neat, with the addition of ice, or as part of a cocktail mixed with other alcoholic beverages. It can also be added to hot chocolate, chamomile tea, and in the Italian version of Irish coffee.
