Founder’s Reserve is a new representative of The Glenlivet family. It embodies the heart and soul of The Glenlivet Whisky, honoring the original vision of the founders to make an incredibly drinkable single malt whisky.
Aged in traditional oak barrels and American bourbon barrels that give this single malt whiskey its characteristic creamy sweetness and exceptional drinkability.
At the beginning of the 19th century, high taxes were the cause of numerous illegal distilleries. Local resident George Smith, the founder of this distillery, was the only one who received a license so that he could unhinderedly produce whiskey and trade with it.
Over its 200 years of existence, this distillery has been praised, awarded and fought over – but there is only one whiskey that has the undisputed right to be called The Glenlivet. Demand for the famous single malt from the Speyside region was high and competing distilleries were labeling bottles of their whiskeys as “The Glenlivet”. In order to put an end to such activities, the Smith family had to protect their heritage and after years of legal battle, they were granted exclusive rights to The Glenlivet trademark.
