Description
The Macallan 12 Year Old Triple Cask was matured in a combination of American oak barrels and ex-sherry casks. This is a Single Malt Whiskey that combines fruity citrus and caramel with spicy notes of ginger and nutmeg.
The Macallan Estate is situated on a large acreage with an abundance of natural beauty. This castle was built way back in 1700. Easter Elchies is a good example of a Highland noble house. The property covers 160 hectares, of which about 90 hectares are planted with barley. This special variety of Minstrel barley has been developed over centuries to achieve the ultimate taste of this whisky.
The Macallan casks are unusually small, the smallest casks in the Speyside region. Their unique size and shape are responsible for obtaining the viscosity and rich fruity aroma, as well as the fullness of taste, which are characteristic of whiskeys from this distillery. In the distillery there are fourteen of these small unusual cauldrons, made of the finest copper. These cauldrons are so famous that they are on the back of the £10 note which was printed in 1995 as a limited edition.
