Description
Chianti Classico Fonterutoli di Mazzei 2020 is a dry red wine obtained by blending Sangiovese 90%, Malvasia Nera 5% and Colorino 5%.
Born on the estate of Castello di Fonterutoli, located in the province of Siena, on the hills overlooking Val d’Elsa, in the heart of Chianti Classico. It comes from the separate vinification of the company’s different plots, which are spread over a unique spectrum of soils and climate types, at an altitude of 220 to 570 meters above sea level. It is the leading and “best selling” company. The grapes are strictly hand-harvested from the end of September and fermented and macerated for 16-18 days at a controlled temperature of 26-28°. After that, the wine undergoes a period of aging in oak barrels, 40% new, for 12 months, before being bottled.
Color: Ruby red.
Smell: Notes of red fruits, berries, floral notes of violet and sweet vanilla spices, blue flowers and grilled herbs.
Taste: Typical Sangiovese profile of bright red berries, with lovely integrated acidity and freshness.
